【Support Wang Chau “Win-Win Plan.” Support with 10K signatures】
Ten thousand signatures for the petition to support Wang Chau “Win-Win Plan."
Since the beginning of the development plan, the government is adamant that bulldozing Wang Chau’s three villages is the only way to acquire more land for public housing. However, Dr. Edward Yiu Chung-yim and LegCo member Eddie Chu Hoi-dick counter proposed a “Win -Win Plan” – preserve the greenbelt of Wang Chau while businesses on the brownfield sites can continue their activities and increase the scale of public housing development, all at the same time. We are now seeking ten thousand signatures to support this citizen-initiated plan, and call for the government not only to retract the decision to demolish the villages, but also offer a more sensible solution to tackle with the land issue.
3. Greenbelt region and villages
– Testing zones for brownfield site activities.
Carparks, container yards and logistic facilities can be relocated into multi-level industrial buildings. Ground level open areas are also available for those who are unable to move above ground to continue their business activities. The remaining half of the brownfield sites will be used to develop public housing. If the government is able to resettle some of the business operators in other suitable brownfield sites, completing stage one development, they will then allocate new space for stage two development and yield an additional 3,000 household units.
– Land area involved in the development.
Lowered from the planned 34 hectares to 20 hectares, and avoid harming the greenbelt region.
– Last supply.
Offering 8-10K household units. More than double what the government proposed while the villages and greenbelt region in the first stage public housing plan can be preserved without relocation.
